Tree of Inspiration
Art Installation Honors Celebrated Educators
FAME GC revealed a dramatic new art installation in the lobby of Glen Cove High School on October 11, 2022. The artwork was the brainchild of Valerie Lasser and her husband Michael Lasser, both GCHS alumni. During the inaugural ceremony, handcrafted wooden leaves were revealed to celebrate beloved educators Dale Alan Zubrick, Sally A. Zwiebach, and Thom Ruckert, for whom scholarships were announced. Alumni Linda Cirigliano, Beth Corets, Judi Germano, and MarkCharles Avellino-Misilli spoke about these storied teachers, as well as of Albert "AJ" Johnson, whose leaf was subsequently installed and revealed in a ceremony on November 29, 2023. The permanent art installation is designed to grow over the years and is designed to motivate and inspire the Glen Cove City Public School community.

Broadway Show Field Trip: "The Outsiders"
FAME GC is co-sponsoring an excursion to NYC for 8th Grade ELA students
FAME GC is sponsoring an excursion to see the 2024 Best Musical, The Outsiders, on Broadway in NYC, for students in Glen Cove’s 8th grade English Language Arts class.
Through a generous donation by FAME board member and Tony-winning producer Beth Corets, FAME is offering deeply discounted tickets to a matinee performance of The Outsiders, to support a class trip where 8th grade students will see the renowned book by S.E. Hinton come to life onstage.
